The Met Office has issued an urgent 11-hour weather warning as the UK braces for a wall of rain to hit.
The forecasters have placed a yellow weather alert over the East of England, London and the south east as a wave of downpours is due to sweep across Britain.
The warning is in place from 4pm today until 3am on Thursday morning.
It comes as Brits have been lashed with heavy rain and thunderstorms for days, with the Met Office issuing an amber alert on Sunday as flash floods hit parts of England.
Devon bore the brunt of the floods, with the village of Dawlish left underwater. Exeter airport was also forced to close amid severe conditions.
The wet weather is due to stick around over the weekend, with the UK getting the brutal impact of ex-Hurricane Nigel.
The Met Office said: “On Sunday, we will start to see the influence of ex-tropical Hurricane Nigel, which will be offshore in the mid-Atlantic.
“These systems have a long reach.
“It will increase rainfall rates and also winds to bring unsettled weather to the UK.”
The Met Office has warned the latest wall of extreme weather will likely cause chaos on the roads and railways. A spokesperson said: “Heavy rain may bring some travel disruption.
“Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer.
“Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer.
“Some interruption to power supplies and other services is possible.
“There is a small chance of flooding to a few homes and businesses.”
It’s also been forecase that the UK is also set to experience an Indian summer at the end of September as temperatures skyrocket to 24C in the final days of the month.
According to weather app Ventusky, the UK will experience one last blast of warmth before the country settles into autumn.

Today:
A band of heavy rain will continue southeastwards today, though lingering across southeast England in the afternoon.
Behind this turning fresher with sunny spells and showers. A windy day especially on exposed coasts, but easing during the day for most.
Tonight:
Rain slow to clear in the southeast.
Elsewhere blustery showers slowly easing during the evening in land, but remaining on western coasts. Windy, but easing slowly.
Thursday:
Sunny spells and heavy blustery showers, with the odd rumble of thunder. Winds generally light outside of showers in the south, but still windy in the north.
Friday-Sunday:
Often changeable with sunshine and scattered showers, heavy and thundery at times. Drier on Saturday with sunnier spells. Remaining blustery, especially along the coasts and feeling cool.
