Beautiful and historic Spanish city where temperatures reach 20C all year round | Europe | Travel
Valencia is one of Europe’s most beautiful cities – and remains warm throughout the year with temperatures always set to top the late teens all through winter.
Located on Spain’s east coast, this picturesque city overlooks the Mediterranean Sea and the Gulf of Valencia, with the city and surrounding parts of the eponymous province boasting beautiful beaches.
These can be enjoyed almost all year round, with temperatures reaching averages of 17C to 18C during December and through to March, when even warmer weather kicks in.
While it might not quite be the temperatures expected for tanning all day long, skies tend to remain relatively clear all year round – meaning this won’t be a trip where you will require a rain coat.
Valencia has on average only 46 precipitation days a year, averaging only a small handful of rainy days per month.

More recently, in the beginning of December 2023, temperatures reached the mid-20s with just a few weeks to go until Christmas – climates unheard of in the UK at this time of year.
Founded as a Roman colony in 138BC, Valencia has plenty of sightseeing and activities for visitors to enjoy all year round.
The Cathedral, one of the city’s main attractions, is a beautiful mixture of Romanesque, Baroque and Gothic styles.
The Holy Chalice is preserved inside the Cathedral and if you can bear the 207 steps of the Miguelete tower you will be able to enjoy a remarkable 360º view of the city, sea, and surrounding land.
The city is also deeply rooted in traditional Spanish culture, with plenty of authentic restaurants, bars, museums and monuments to choose from when visiting.
It’s also home to Valencia CF, the top flight La Liga team, with tours of the Mestalla Stadium, one of the oldest in Spanish football, available throughout the year.
Flights from major UK airports tend to be on the cheaper side, particularly in the winter months.
Express.co.uk has even found return flights from as little as £58 departing the next day.
