Frank Miller ‘isn’t worried about AI taking his job’ | Films | Entertainment

Frank Miller has spent decades building his career to become known as one of the greatest fiction writers of all time.

After creating such iconic and notable stories as 300 and Sin City (and directing some big-screen adaptations of his work) he also lent his hand to Batman, Spider-Man, Daredevil, and plenty of other massive comic book characters.

But change is on the horizon for writers and artists. Recent advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) have disturbed the waters over the past couple of years. Mobile phone apps allow anyone to “create” art using AI and services such as ChatGPT can “write” stories (or, at least, the beginnings of one).

Naturally, many writers and artists have become a little perturbed by these creations. Miller isn’t one of them, though.

Speaking exclusively at Lucca Comics and Games 2023, Miller told the Teatro Del Giglio: “I’m not particularly excited by anything that’s going to replace people like me.”

With that said, Miller did show some optimism about the technology’s inhumanity.

“I don’t believe it can draw,” he said of replacing artists like himself. “And I know it can’t make up a story.”

He also shone some doubt on its authenticity: “And there’s no way it can talk like a human, and have the quirks and errors and missteps and sneezes and – all of that that people do.”
